CHECK VARROA LEVELS
October is an important time to keep monitoring Varroa levels, particularly after any late-summer or early-autumn treatment. Colonies are beginning to reduce brood rearing, so allowing mite numbers to remain high can put additional pressure on the bees that need to survive through winter.
Check mite levels and, where treatment is required, choose a UK-authorised Varroa treatment that is appropriate for the colony, temperature and time of year, always following the product instructions.
Formic Pro is a great choice as the optimal treatment temperatures are between 10°C to 29.5°C and we have it on offer for the best price in the UK!
If you have already treated, monitoring afterwards can help establish how effective the treatment has been and whether further action may be needed. Keeping Varroa under control now helps give your winter bees the best possible start as the colony heads into the colder months.
