Aside from closing up the hives, the best thing you can do to help is place traps in the apiary. Keep your hives safe by setting wasp traps 10 metres away from your hive(s). This draws wasps to the trap, not the hive. Once they target a hive, they won't quit. Make sure you are checking/changing traps every few days.
