GENERAL PUBLIC ALERT
Help Protect Our Honey Bees – Report Asian Hornet Sightings Today!
Did you know there are currently 44 confirmed sightings of the invasive Asian hornet in the UK – and the number is growing? Most recently in November, sightings have been reported in South Alkam, Kent and Udimore, East Sussex.
We all have a role to play in stopping the spread of this dangerous pest. While Asian hornets aren't a direct threat to human health, they pose a serious risk to our native honey bees, which are essential for pollination and the health of our ecosystems.
Here's how you can help: Download the free Asian Hornet Watch app to quickly report sightings and submit photos of any suspect insects. (available on the Apple or Android ap stores). The app sends reports directly to experts at the National Bee Unit, who will help confirm whether the sighting is an Asian hornet. By using your smartphone, you can help identify and eradicate hornet nests before they spread further.
We need your eyes and ears to protect our bees and keep the Asian hornet at bay. Together, we can help ensure these invasive pests don't become a bigger threat.
