The selection of green and black for the Correx nuc box is based on practical considerations derived from Bee-Equipment's historical research and development (R&D) notes. Bees are inherently attracted to bright colours. Green was chosen due to its perceived neutrality and minimal impact on bee behaviour, akin to leaves vs yellow or blue flowers in nature. In contrast, black was chosen for the outside signage over yellow or blue to avoid attracting bees to the outside and potential predators such as wasps. So what so good about our version of this very popular European defender? The mesh at the front prevents Asian Hornets getting close to the hive and allows the bees to choose a safe exit point, smaller holes to the side give bees another popular way to leave and enter the hive while Asian Hornets hover at the front. A mesh floor allows another way in and out for the bees, as well as allowing debris to fall through out to the open, rather than storing rubbish at the front of the hive. Thus, helping to create a healthier hive. Plus, they fix to your hive with just 4 screws!
